What is the difference between pasta and macaroni?

Ok, it is a very common confusion among us. We often confuse these two (It happened with me also!). Macaroni is made from wheat and eggs. Since macaroni is a type of pasta, it is made of the same dough. But, the fact is- all types of macaroni are pasta, but all pasta is not macaroni.

Ingredients of Macaroni and Cheese Pizza Recipe

So, all confusions are clear… Now head to the main topic- the Recipe. First of all, we have to keep the cooking ingredients at hand. There are so many versions of mac and cheese pizza. I am giving my kind of recipe here. Some definite things will need, those are-

  • 1 and a half cups of macaroni (Amount of macaroni will depend on how many people are gonna eat)
  • 1 cup of cheese
  • 3 slices American cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 premade pizza base (If you haven’t any, no problem. I will tell you later…)
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 20 gm cheddar cheese
  • Salt as per test
  • Olive oil as per need
  • Butter 1 Tsp
  • 4-6 chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 small size thin sliced onion
  • 1 and a half Tsp all-purpose flour
  • Mixed Italian herbs or oregano
  • 1 and a half Tsp red chili powder
  • 1 Tsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 and a half tsp of red chili sauce

Lots of stuff, right? But I guarantee you, this pizza will taste a ton!

Macaroni and Cheese Pizza Recipe

First of all, let me tell you that the taste of food totally depends on its cooking. Your pizza will taste yummy if you follow my instructions correctly.

Boiling macaroni

  1. Take a dish and pour some water that is enough to boil your macaroni. Boil it to enough warmth.
  2. Add some salt as per taste. You can add 1 Tsp of olive oil, it will become breezy. Pour all the macaroni. 
  3. Boil till the macaroni is cooked. Do not overcook it.
  4. Drain the macaroni and keep it aside.

Making the sauce and preparing macaroni

  1. In another dish, take 2 Tsp of olive oil and 1 Tsp of butter.
  2. When the butter melts and heats up, add chopped garlic. Saute it for 10-15 seconds.
  3. Then add thinly sliced onion. Saute till the onions become slightly pink in color. If you want, you can make these brown (I prefer pinkish onion…).
  4. When it is done, add all-purpose flour and saute for a minute at low flame. Remember, if it remains raw, your pizza will taste good.
  5. Now, add the milk. You should continuously stir the mixture when you are adding the milk.
  6. Keep the heat low. Add Italian herbs or oregano and red chile powder.
  7. Add some salt as per taste. Stir the mixture.
  8. Now, break a slice of cheese and add it into the mixture. You can also use cube cheese. Cook till the sauce thickens.
  9. When it becomes thick, add the boiled macaroni. Give it a good mix, take it out in a bowl, keep it aside.

At last, the “Pizza!”

  1. For baking your pizza, you can use an oven. If you have not, you can use the homemade strategy. For this, take a fairly big open cooking dish. Pour some salt into it. Put a dish-stand in it. Pre-heat it for 10 minutes at medium heat.
  2. Take a ready-made pizza base on a pizza plate. Take a normal baking plate if you have no pizza plate (There is always an alternative way in my cooking style! Ha… ha… ha…).
  3. Prick it using a fork.
  4. Apply some water by a brush on the upper surface of the pizza base. It will make the top of the base soft and moist. Do not use so much water, otherwise, it will become damp.
  5. Mix 1 and a half Tsp red chili sauce and 1 Tsp tomato ketchup. Add ½ Tsp oregano, 2 small chopped garlic cloves, and give it a good mix. You can use the ready-made pizza sauce, but I prefer my handmade sauce.
  6. Apply the sauce and spread it over the top of the base.
  7. Then, spread prepared macaroni on the base.
  8. Spread mozzarella cheese, and after that spread cheddar cheese.
  9. Now put the pizza plate in your homemade oven for 5-7 minutes. If you are using an oven, preheat the oven at 420 F (215 C) and bake your pizza for 12-15 minutes. Do not take too much time, otherwise, your pizza will turn into a crunchy toast (I already suffered from it…).
  10. Yeah, your pizza is ready. Give a nice topping according to your taste and ENJOY…
